Running latest version of Firefox on Windows 7. I don't know what happened, Firefox crashed today when one of these sites was open that are listed here, http://websdr.org/ and now when I record from one of them and download the recording, I see the download there in the library, I can open the folder or file, but once I close Firefox it's gone, as are all entries in the library for previously downloaded files from these sites going back as far as my download history goes, but all my other downloads are fine. FF took a surgical knife and removed all entries for these downloads and no others, and I can't keep any new ones from these sites in the download history. I tried downloading from another site entirely, (a Youtube to MP3 converter site) and the library saves the history of that download just fine. I have gone into privacy in Preferences, and save download history is checked. I tried refreshing Firefox a couple times, but it didn't work. Why is it discriminating against downloads from these sites? They all come from something called blob resource. A couple examples of download page links from 2 different sites hosting receivers you can record and download from: EX1: "blob:http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/a10f9c01-3cf3-49c8-b5e1-0e51c395ab44" EX2: "blob:http://roma2sdr.ddns.net:8080/dbaaa997-c9c6-4de9-b6ad-3322d0640532" I don't know if the crashes had anything to do with it, as I've had crashes before there without this effect. Tried rebooting, tried restarting ff in safe mode and downloading a small file, as soon as I restart firefox it's gone from the library. I can't find any site-specific settings in preferences dealing with saving download history. Thanks for any answers.

Downloads expire automatically after 60 days in current releases (49+).

Downloads and long URLs expire in 60 days.

These are disappearing in 60 seconds or less, not 60 days, and others were only days old. They all were wiped from the history regardless of how old they were.

Is the history working properly and aren't you using Private Browsing mode?

Firefox manages downloads in the Downloads folder in the Library (History -> Show All History)

  • downloads are treated as history items: clearing history removes included download items and vice versa.
  • the Download button gets a blue highlight once all downloads are finished to make you aware that new downloads are available.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

The history itself is working fine, in fact all the websdr.org sites show up in my history. Only the downloads from there disappear when I restart Firefox. "Show all history" is selected. I haven't cleared history lately. As to Safe Mode: "tried restarting ff in safe mode and downloading a small file, as soon as I restart firefox it's gone from the library. " I'm not using private browsing. I'm already using the default theme, in fact the other 2 "compact dark" and "compact light" are disabled. I use a screen reader, so not interested in other themes. I recently refreshed Firefox trying to solve this problem, so have no extensions to worry about.
