yahoo keeps defaulting over my chosen google search

more options

I have tried setting Google as my default search engine after a clean install of windows 10, now ever since then yahoo keeps hijacking my browser search engine. Not sure about the home page although I did change that I would assume it saved, however un-installing the app reinstalling did NOT resolve this either. Sad because i have used Firefox for a LONG time but I can't stand that crappy search engine, let alone its looks and maybe if this gets fixed. I will look at coming back but until then I imported my browser bar to Google chrome, where everything works as i want it NOT as mozilla or crappy YAHOO wants it too.

Firefox is designed to let you choose your preferred home page and search engine and have that remembered permanently. If it isn't sticking, we can help you track down the problem.

(1) When does the change occur? For example:

  • Soon after changing it, without closing Firefox or adding any new extensions
  • Every time you exit Firefox and start it up again (between sessions)
    • Do you have Advanced SystemCare or other security/utility software that protects against changed browser settings by rolling back changes between sessions?
  • Only when you shut down and restart Windows (between reboots)
    • Do you have CCleaner or other security/utility software that cleans up browser data at startup?
  • Only when you update Firefox

(2) Is anything else changing at the same time? For example:

  • Home page, new tab page pinned sites, or other settings?
  • History or cookies cleared unexpectedly?
