Why do cookies in firefox stop my browser from loading google.com? And how do I prevent this from happening ?

I only have this problem with google, maybe it happens with other sites, but at least none that I am using.

I know I can fix it by removing the cookies, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Isn't there anything I can do to prevent it from ever happening again ?

And why does it only happen in firefox, seems like a bug to me.

Hi BobMaster, I understand that cookies are preventing you from visiting google.com. These are the types of cookies that Google uses: Policies and Cookie types

It is possible to disable cookies for specific sites by changing the Page Information permissions.

That would be useful, IF I could set the permissions for each individual cookie.

I use gmail and google+, so not storing cookies means I will have to log in every time I want to check my mail or my notifications on google+.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

My computer is clean, it gets scanned every week.

This does not concern a faulty computer, this is a well known issue with firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can

I have done all those steps, multiple times over the last year and a half let's say

Whenever I lose my connection for a few seconds, or my isp messes up, even if it is just for a minute. The next time my connection is back, firefox acts like I am still disconnected and will not load google sites, not the search engine, not google mail.

This only happens in firefox, I have tested out chrome, opera and IE, none of them have this problem.

I was hoping to come here and find a simple solution to prevent it from ever happening again, because it is probably only the session ID cookie that causes the loading issue.

But I guess there is none and I will just have to live with this bug, or maybe I should contact google about it.

If you are not in USA, then Google will default to the page for whatever country you are in. You can defeat that for searches by using

https://www.google.com/ncr

That trick does not work for Google Maps, though.

Though useful, this doesn't solve anything and it's not only the search engine, same problem with gmail or any other google service.

Guess I will have to take this to google, seems Mozilla is completely clueless.
