I have tried to search for an answer to my problem but to no joy.

I use a website for work and there is a certain button i click which opens a popup and it says "A plugin is needed to display this content"

I have tried everything to get it to work , uninstalled Firefox, uninstalled all java related files on my computer, restarted computer and installed both again.

Is there anything i can do to get this to work.

The Java 7u55 plugin is showing in the System Details List, so should be installed.

  • Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.55.2 for Mozilla browsers.

Are you sure that this is about the Java plugin?

Does Firefox shows a specific plugin when you click the Lego block icon on the location bar?

Firefox is a 32 bit software and as it is, it needs 32 bit java. Make sure you have the 32 bit JRE installed as well (not just the 64 bit)

Cor-el - i am sure it is a java thing because if i try the same thing on chrome it works and it shows a loading bar for java. when i click the lego block icon it says it cannot find a plugin.

Evadark1 - i have both 32bit and 64bit version installed i have tried on a 32bit windows and the problem still shows.

Do you have the right things enabled on the Firefox Add-ons part? I do not know the default settings but for Java (both Platform and Deployment Toolkit) there are some options to choose (they are on the right side next to the Java).
Java Deployment Kit has 2 options "Ask to activate" and "Never activate".
Java Platform has 3 options: "Ask to activate", "Always activate" and "Never activate".
If those are set to "Never activate", then that could be the cause of your problem?
