Since the latest Firefox update, slideshow webpages on the N.Y. Times website are no longer accessible to this subscriber, instead for cookies to be activated
Cookies are activated, and I have no issue accessing any other nytimes.com webpages except ones that contain slideshow content. To troubleshoot, I have cleared all my cookies in Firefox. I do not want to clear all caches, however, because I do not want to lose certain info.
I did call the N.Y. Times first. Their response: "Use a different browser."

Could you give a link to a page with a problem slideshow?
General comment:
Some sites use tracking services to monitor how users interact with images and Firefox's Tracking Protection feature (and add-ons with similar features) can break those. This article describes how to check for and use the "shield" icon indicating that Tracking Protection is blocking some content in a page: What happened to Tracking Protection?.
Here's a link to a page with a slideshow that will not display in Firefox:

This doesn't seem like an especially complex script. Could you check that Adblock Plus isn't blocking anything on the page?
As more generalized test is to try the page in Firefox's Safe Mode. In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (do not click Refresh).
Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)
