How to synchronize emails between 2 or more devices so all contain the same data in Thunderbird on each device?
I know how to transfer my profile from 1 computer to another (old to new) but that means the data on the old computer is no longer the same as on the new one thereafter. What I want is the ability to check my emails from any of my devices (desktop, tablet or laptop) & for all to have exactly the same emails received & sent so it doesn't matter which I use to deal with my emails...

Use IMAP. If your current provider doesn't offer IMAP, find a better email provider.

It's possible to share a profile so that all machines use the same pool of data, but this usually involves the largely unnecessary repeated uploading and downloading of enormous swathes of data to somewhere like Dropbox. You end up reinventing a perfectly functional wheel.
Or consider Portable Thunderbird, with everything on a USB thumbdrive. It's OK if you only use Windows (I don't) and you don't mind the risk of losing your stick. I lose and replace my USB thumbrive sticks on an increasingly regular basis. :-(
Now, admittedly, this IMAP approach only covers your email. I use Google Contacts and Google Calendar to synchronize other important data between computers (Windows and Linux), and also Android tablets and phones.

I checked the settings on my different accounts, some are IMAP & some POP, I've just checked my emails on 2 devices & the ones that came thru didn't on the other, so it would appear that IMAP & POP settings makes no difference...
Using the portable version on a USB is just too much hassle & should I lose it, I've lost all my data, good idea but not really a viable option in my opinion...
I didn't understand your reference to Dropbox & reinventing the wheel...
