I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 14.04, 64 bit.

Now the calendar in thunderbird disappeared.

I have installed: Thunderbird 38.4.0 Lightning 4.0.4.1 Provider for Google Calendar 1.0.4

I tried to delete lightning and reinstall it, but the menu option: view->calendar is still disabled.

Any help appreciated.

You must not mix the two versions, i.e. if Thunderbird is from Ubuntu, Lightning must be from Ubuntu too.

Well, I don't think, that this is correct. You can always install extensions from within Thunderbird, and this are not Ubuntu packages. Anyway, I found a solution: Even though the menu item View->Calendar is disabled, I can access the calendar via the menu item "Events and Tasks" -> Calendar, and it works.

What is the status of Lightning in the Add-ons Manager? Can you provide a screenshot with the entry for Lightning visible? http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

I guess, that the status is "enabled", because the button "Disable" is shown.

What version of Thunderbird and Lightning are you using, the one provided by Ubuntu repository or the vanilla one from Mozilla? You must not mix the two versions, i.e. if Thunderbird is from Ubuntu, Lightning must be from Ubuntu too.
