Samsung SM-T310 Android 4.4.2 Kernel 3.0.31-1729796 Build KOT49H.T310XXUBNE9

Firefox 30.0 Build ID 20140605172539 Add-ons: Adblock Plus 2.6.3 (I have tried disabling this and also tried a fresh installation with no add-ons.)

These are video click through from Facebook, for example. The same happens for any video content that I try to use through Firefox. The YouTube app works OK. Hope you can help!

Can you please link an example? We can further investigate this as well if you try it with another video player.

Here we are:

Across the middle of the video widow it says "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt".

Which other video player could I try? Thanks.

What video player are you currently using? The default Samsung video player or within Firefox itself? I suggest using VLC Player for playing video files as the default Samsung video player doesn't support most file extensions.

I'm using the video player within Firefox. I didn't know that VLC is available for tablets -I'll check out out. But then I have to find out how to tell Firefox to use VLC player... I'll investigate and reply.

How do I tell which video player Firefox is using? I have found two apps called 'Video' and 'Video player' in application manager.

I installed VLC player, but can't see how to get Firefox to use it. I still get the video is corrupt message.

Hi ElDingo, I tried the page that you posted on the same device. But the kernel was: Kernel 3.4.0-196668 updated early June.

The video is a vine plug in? In Firefox is shows as an image and then I opened the page in Firefox Beta as well and did a long tap. (Tap the video and hold until a prompt is up) then I chose to open it in a new tab. I am pretty sure that vine uses the default player, so this may give you the same error. (If it does not it may be that file type? )

Video player in Firefox by default is HTML5 player if Flash is not installed on the device. The way to tell is to change the Plugin settings in Settings > Display > Plugins > Tap to play https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-watch-flash-videos-firefox-...

http://vine.co/v/MFzlvZBq6M7

VLC player is currently not in the addons.mozilla.org site. To use it, you would have to long tap and select open with an app I believe.

Hi Guigs2, That's really useful information, thank you. I'm traveling at the moment, but I hope to have a closer look at the weekend. Regards, Dingo

Here I am again... I enabled 'tap to play' in Firefox. None of the Vine videos I can find work. When I Googled HTML5 video test some play perfectly in Firefox and some don't (same error message "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt"). The built in Samsung browser plays all videos. I found another (third party) browser that plays all videos every time and another third party one that plays all videos but with a very jerky output; none are ideal, especially as I really like AdBlockPlus and Firefox generally (the awesome bar is just that). There are no further Android updates avalable, according to my device update check. So I don't really know where to go from here, other than to use multiple browsers...
