The problem started after I tried opening this site: http://www.apexninjas.com/blog/2011/04/import-full-apex-application-to-runtime-environments/

(found via Google search)

Firefox won't open the site (keeps loading forever) and no other site opens after this. Any other site opened in Firefox will say "connecting" forever. This problem persists until reboot, and starts again when opening the said site.

Fans are going craxy and CPU usage is very high.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
