How can I keep firefox history (bookmarks etc) when installing a new os on my computer?
I can update firefox on my present system and that works fine. What i am trying to figure out what to do is how to save my history and bookmarks and site passwords etc when I install a new operating system on my computer. I use linux Mint 17 but had version 17.1 and installed 17.3 and deleted all my previous data and programs except for which I had saved from the home directory to another hard drive. This is the way to keep data in linux as it is all in the home directory.
Data in other programs doesn't get preserved this way and I would like to do this for Firefox etc I dont think firefox data is in the home directory, but it must be somewhere.
I could do this ok if it can be done by copying the old directory where firefox is located to the new os.
Any ideas?

Hi
I have recently moved from Win10 to Ubuntu so I appreciate what you are trying to do.
The method I followed was to backup your Firefox profile and install it in the new OS. You can read more about how to find, backup and reinstall a Firefox profile here.
I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
