Več o tem

I have a hotmail account and a hotmail alias; messages to either end up in box in-boxes and messages from either end up being sent from both addresses (:twice).

That's about it. I've created a new outgoing smtp account with the right username(email address) but same server settings (smtp-mail.outlook.com, port 587, STARTTLS, normal password, and it's associated with the alias; _________@outlook.com) (regular email is ______@hotmail.com) I configured the identity when creating the new account in Thunderbird and it all seemed straightforward, where have I gone wrong. I looked at hotmail>options>customizing>mail sorting but don't see what difference that would make. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, realself

Hotmail.com and outlook.com are both on outlook.com. so maybe you are connecting to the same account twice. Check with Outlook.com.

Thanks, but outlook is where I tried the "customize" option, which would only allow me to move the outlook.com emails to a folder. Perhaps "alias" is not the best word in this context, I have two seperate accounts, according to Thunderbird, each with its own identity. Yet all incoming email goes into both accounts. And the addressing is all mixed up. At my end, I've done all I can to keep things seperate.
