Black horizontal bars and black portions in the browser
Hi there!
There are some website (facebook is one of them) where I see black horizontal bars when I scroll in the page. The bar isn't always the same size and sometimes, it suddenly come completely black but some portions of the text or images stay visible.
I've tried to change the page style and the bug happens also in "no style". It doesn't happen on all website. I've tried to reinstall Firefox, start with no extension and nothing changes.
Thanks and hope the details I have provided will be useful so you can track and find the solution. I know that this bug is new in Firefox 6 since I didn't see it in previous version.
Best Regards,

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Hi!
It works! I also told you that in safe mode, the black bars weren't appearing. Actually, They were not there.I thought it was some of my extensions or plug ins that cause that but I realize that in safe mode, the hardware acceleration is also disable.
The only question I have, what is the acceleration do and what if it is disable?
Thanks
Hi!
I've tried some things to resolve the issue. Disabling the hardware acceleration works. But if I visit pages with the need of hardware acceleration, it becomes really slow.
I also tried to reinstall my graphic drivers (GeForce), install the beta and revert to an old driver; still corrupted display with hardware acceleration.
Is Firefox 6.x.x having a different way of handling the hardware acceleration? Is it possible to revert to another version of Firefox other than the 3.6 (like Firefox 4 or 5)? Does Firefox 7 beta also might be subject to this kind of bug?
Thanks!
Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features and maybe set gfx.direct2d.disabled -> true to disable Direct2D.
Filter: gfx
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
- Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
- Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
- Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.
Hello there!
I found out that it's Java that doesn't work properly in FF 6.x.x... In the "about:config" I disabled the "javascript.enable" and the black bars disappear and every java content (which is logic since java uses gfx I believe).
I also notice that in the add-ons manager, the java console 6.0.27 is disabled so it is possible that in some case, it may cause a bug. I already tried to reinstall java (from java.com) and it didn't work.
Is it possible to check out If I found is correct and if there is another solution than disable gfx.direct.2d and/or disable java?
Thanks!
