While the autocomplete function works neatly with webpages we have already visited, I wanted to know if we could customize its functionality. As an example, when I type "y" in the address bar, the autocomplete suggestion that pops up is "youtube.com/". While this is neat, I wanted to know if it was possible to customize our autocomplete to be something like "youtube.com/search?q=" which is not a page that I can readily bookmark or make the awesome bar remember, afaik. So, what I want to be able to do is to make my browser autocomplete my "y" into "youtube.com/search?q=" or similar such URL so that I save that extra second I have to wait for the home page to load and I have to type in my search. I could definitely see this being very handy for other sites such as "facebook.com/t/messages/"

Those are some very useful add-ons. They do make stuff easier but I still want to know if such an autocomplete feature can be accessed. Thanks for these links though!

Hi,

You can set up custom search keywords in Firefox, e.g.

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-search-from-address-bar

You could call the keyword just 'y', then do 'y firefox' from the address bar, for instance.

I believe you can also set up a bookmark with a url with %s for the value you want to insert, e.g. `https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s` and then set the keyword for that, and it'll do the same thing.

That solves my immediate problem of setting up searches from the awesome bar. Thanks! Although the original question I addressed was customizing what the autocomplete result was, I guess this is also very helpful.
