If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Many thanks for your reply, but it seems to relate to a bug in V60. This has happened with previous versions and after abandoning Firefox for a while, they eventually fix the bug and I can return to it.

I have tried all of the suggestions and GMail is unable to log past the password and often fails on the step before that. Eventually returning with "Something went wrong "Sorry, something went wrong there. Try again.""

I am now using Chrome as that and Internet Explorer (sorry Microsoft Edge) both work perfectly.

No problem with Gmail using FF60. So I think something else is going on with your system. Like adblockers or A/V issue.
