It's defined on line 2 of style.css - the rule for the body element says:

body {
font:12px/18px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
background:url(../images/headerbg.png) top center no-repeat;
height:221px;
margin: 0px;
}

If you remove that "background:url" line the image will go away.

If you are talking about something else, please try taking a screenshot of it.
