Laptop had issues booting (icky Dell and Windows 11).

When I rebooted and opened Firefox, I was prompted with a Password Required dialog box and a request to "Please enter your Primary Password."

I've never set a primary password, or a master password when that term was used.

I've seen I can reset my primary password, but I lose my saved logins. I know that's not too hard to re set up....

But why am I being asked to enter a password I've never set?

Firefox for Windows Version 93.0 (64-bit)

You can export the logins to CVS in Lockwise. Make sure to verify that the files has all usernames and passwords.

Then you can remove logins.json and key4.db in the Firefox profile folder to force Firefox to create new files.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

See the note at the bottom of this article about how to enable CSV import in Lockwise via the about:config page.
