problems with the "display remote content" button missing

more options

I am running 68.7.0 (64-bit) on a Mac running Catalina v10.15.4

The "show remote content" button is missing. Now all my incoming emails are not displaying images or remote content. I have read all the threads on this, and tried setting: Preferences->Allow Remote Content I have tried whitelisting sites, etc. I have tried opening the message in a new window, etc.

I find no effect either way.

This started recently.

Please advise. This is making email challenging.

Chosen solution

In your first picture, the box for 'Allow remote content..' is checked. It should be unchecked, so that the Options button is displayed when a message with remote content is opened. Also, remote content is never displayed if View/Message Body As is anything besides Original HTML. Finally, check your account via webmail to see if the images are blocked by the mail provider before messages are downloaded to TB. If they are, you might have to whitelist the sender or add their address to webmail contacts.

Thanks a bunch for this!

The problem was a combination of "View Message Body" being set to simple html and the allow remote content button. I don't know how the View Message Body setting got set to "Simple HTML". However, once I set that to original HTML, the allow button worked properly.

Thanks again!
