what do I do now? I want as much privacy and security as I can get - jusl learned that aol-yahoo-and verizon are now one (and teaming up tp violate privacy).

I have had aol since 1995 and do not like new unprivacy policy - what can I switch to - even if I have to pa someone instead of having the free account I have had for years. Will I be able to switch the emails and pics I have saved? I do not have (or care to use) any social media sites.

is you account is POP that everything will be on your computer. Not necessarily so if you use IMAP and you will have to take action to retain the email in an IMAP account.

As for another provider. Look at GMX. GMX is a service provided by 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH A German company covered by German and EU law regarding privacy. Germany redefines the word privacy is you are a US resident. Facebook for instance has been in trouble with them for breaching their privacy laws.
