This has been going on for awhile, I've made posts about similar issues but I have yet to hear anything. My Firefox is "broken" I guess that would be the perfect term for, At least my Firefox. I experience slowdowns on all webpages, it crashes, it freezes, I get what seems like an unlimited amount of "Unresponsive scripts" which forces me to use task manager to end the Firefox process because waiting for it to debug itself or letting the script load does nothing at all. Even the great check-able "Do not remind me again box" does nothing, I don't even bother checking the box because if there's another unresponsive script, even though its the same error the notification pops up still.

Firefox's memory usage spikes from 500k-900k all the way to 2million, I have exited Firefox and have also tried to use the task manager to end the process when it spikes because Firefox is unusable when it gets that high. Even though when I completely exit out of the Firefox program and use task manager to end the process, If I start Firefox back up the memory usage will climb back to where it was which is usually around the 1.5mil range then from there it goes to as high as 2.3mil then just crashes on me.

This has been going on for awhile now and nothing seems to be worked on.

Alright, I scanned with AdwCleaner, It came up with some stuff, And I removed the stuff that appeared in the scan.

As for these 3 scans: SuperAntispyware Portable Scanner Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free (Not the free version I have the paid version)

These came up with no results. I should say that SuperAntiSpyware came up with cookies but I deleted them after the scan finished,

Here is the log for ADWCleaner.

Since I apparently can't attach a file of the log, Here is a screenshot of the entirety of the log.

Alright, I just got done testing the new profile.

The result was that the problem was not there, I checked facebook to see if the memory spike would happen and it did not.

I just got done doing the last of the malware tests, the last one I did was the Microsoft Safety Scan which came up with nothing.

I take it the new profile is working without problem, yes?

When you are ready, we can start moving parts of your old data and Copy it to the new profile.

First; open your file browser to the New profile;

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Second, open the file browser to the Old profile.

Open another file browser to the Old profile folder.

You should see it on the directory "tree" in the first file browser. Right click on that folder and select Open In New Window.

Warning ! ! Only Copy the files you are told. We will avoid anything that might be the cause of your problems. Here is the list of files;

cookies: cookies.sqlite Do not bother. Cookies will be created when you return to the website. However, you will have to log in everywhere. And you may lose any settings that websites store on your computer.

extensions(add-ons, themes): it would be better to download them fresh. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ key3.db and logins.json : These are the Password files. Copy Both !

persdict.dat : custom dictionary – words you added to the dictionary

mimeTypes.rdf : What to do with what type of file.

places.sqlite : History and Bookmarks.

prefs.js : Your settings. Note, If you were having problems, this could be contaminated.

cert8.db and possibly cert_override.txt : Stores all your security certificate settings and any SSL certificates you have imported into Firefox. If removed, the file will be replaced.

search.json.mozlz4 file stores the user-installed search engines that are available in the Firefox v47+

search.sqlite file and searchplugins folder store the search engines that are available in the Firefox Search bar before Firefox v47

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Copy these files from the old to the new. You will get a message that the files already exist. Choose to over-write for each file.

Alright, I have tested the new Firefox profile and everything seems to be working correctly again.

I'm not sure how my old profile got corrupted or whatever happened to it, But my new profile for Firefox seems to be working alright for now.

Thanks for your help.

Well, I thought that this was fixed but I guess not, I still have memory spikes and crashes, The thing is now the memory usage doesn't even get to as high as it used to get, It used to go to 2mil + now it stays around 900k-1.3mil, and crashes.

This is really annoying.

Here are my crash reports:

I can't even submit them to get rid of the "BP" Firefox just doesn't want to work properly for me at all.

I have tried to submit them but the crashes page does not change.

I was struggling with this for months now, and the solution seemed elusive until yesterday. Refreshing FFDevEd would fix it to its pristine, new state but the moment I would sync in account, it would be back to jerky, stuttery self, whereas my work FF would be all.

Deleting the present synced profile using the Profile Manager, and also, deleting all passwords from the synced in accounts worked. Basically take a backup of you sync data and delete your FF account. Make a new one and then add in the data using one of the many ways available (I sucked it in from Chrome)

more options

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers before using sync again.

more options

If sync was the problem how do I use it so that it works properly?

I did indeed use sync to get my bookmarks back, The files you told me to copy over to the new profile didn't load or something in my my new Firefox profile, It only loaded after I synced Firefox with my account.

Did you get an error message?

more options

I did not, None of the passwords I transferred over were in Firefox, I had to re input them in.

There was no error.

more options

So is everything okay now? If so, That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

more options

No, My problem was not solved. I still have the crashes, Slowness and Memory Spikes.

The memory doesn't even need to be high as it used to crash Firefox, It used to be that it crashed at 2mil+ now it crashes around 1.2mil+.

I still get unresponsive scripts, ECT...

I added what I could from my most recent crashes in an earlier post. Please check it out.

The crash site isn't even letting me upload my crash reports to Mozilla. Even after I click them and load them the reports still have "BP" in front of them.

This is getting ridiculous.

more options

Post the BP- reports. Those were submitted to the Mozilla servers.

Alright here are the Bp reports that have happened. There's some reports that don't have "Bp" I didn't include them.
