Does the new silent updater work with Standard user accounts?
For security reasons I use a standard windows user account instead of an admin one.
I actually originally stopped using firefox and switched to chrome because it refused to auto-update when logged in as a standard user.
I hear that Firefox now has a silent updater like Chrome.
Does this silent updater allow Firefox to auto-update when using a standard user account?
Obviously I can't switch back to Firefox completely unless the update feature works with standard accounts

not yet unfortunately. you can keep an eye on the bug mentioned in the mozilla wiki to see when the status is changing to fixed...

the mozilla maintenance service will be able to achieve that, however it is not implmemented at the current stage. at the moment it is only used avoiding the UAC popups on every update. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Windows_Service_Silent_Update#Limite...
Ok thanks.
What about the Aurora build. Is it implemented in that?

I'll keep an eye on that bug
It's certainly a bug.
What's the chance that some skunkworks somewhere can devise a virus that all programmers must submit to being injected with, one that makes them wake up frequently at night in a cold sweat yelling "THEY'RE ALL NOT ADMINISTRATORS!!"?
We're not. We try to practice safe hex, but programmers continue to program for only other administrators.
Administrator accounts are for administering; user accounts are for using. Doh.
