Always ask me where to save files: If selected, Firefox will ask you to select a folder for every download you wish to save. not opening up instead saves in my file

in tools, option, general,Always ask me where to save files: is checked, yet . so firefox saves and doesnt open my file when i open an attachment from yahoo mail, this just happened after new version firefox downloaded

You seem to have set an automatic download action if that happens.
You can check that in Tools > Options > Applications
