how to change tab position
Previously could change tab location by dragging. Doesn't seem to work with new version of Firefox. Is it still possible to adjust position? If yes, how?

This did not solve my problem, but I discovered if I tap a tab twice, I can move it. I do not like Quantum. I may go back to 56.
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, do to security issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Drag tabs left or right without taking them off the tab bar.
That doesn't seem to work in Firefox Quantum.
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
- Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
- Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
- Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

Works for me! Either an old, disabled extension "gumming up the works" or a new extension that isn't quite "compatible". Or a user customization that has gone astray.
I did the refresh in Firefox Quantum. It did nothing. Are you running Quantum?
Did it work in Safe Mode ? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode if it works here then it is Profile or Extensions/addon related.
If it does not work in Safe Mode : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Yes, I verified that it works for me in Quantum on Windows 7.
