Hi, I was working through the first page of new posts. Did you find this article by now: Install an older version of Firefox?

Hey jscher2000, sorry to hijack this thread but is the extension open source? Perhaps I can port it.

I don't see the license mentioned. The developer has a forum here, maybe some assistance would be appreciated: https://codefisher.org/forum/thread/21542/
I am still on firefox 56.0.2 and I will be there until firefox 57 allows the text formatting toolbar, WHICH I USE EVERYDAY. For me firefox 57 is a BIG DOWNGRADE; please restore our firefox 56 extensions.
It WAS a firefox extension with firefox 56. Don't tell me it is not a firefox extension. I use it everyday with firefox 56.0.2.

Hi ronfraz, I realize it's frustrating but this is not a Mozilla extension, it's by someone else and it's their choice whether or how to update it.

What I meant was, it was written by someone other than Mozilla (Mozilla is the maker of Firefox). Mozilla is responsible for maintaining its own extensions, and it has urged other authors to update their extensions, but Mozilla is not going to take over someone else's extension and update it for them.
I was hoping firefox 57.0.2 would solve the problem. No such luck. So it's back to firefox 56.0.2. I use the text formatting toolbar (https://codefisher.org/format_toolbar/) EVERYDAY, so firefox 57 is USELESS. Please fix this. It is up to YOU, not them to fix this, as you have it for firefox 56...
Since extensions for Firefox 57 cannot create toolbars in the toolbar area, what do you think about having the buttons in the sidebar?
For example, this one can insert BBCode and HTML tags:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/edit/
I haven't tested it myself.
I especially need a HYPERLINK button which your suggestion does not offer. I am back on Firefox 56 for now.
I need the https://codefisher.org/format_toolbar/ TEXT FORMATTING TOOLBAR.
Did you ask the author of the new extension to add it? I think there was a comment in the description of the extension inviting users to suggest changes.
I've posted a request to update their toolbar to Firefox 57 on their forum, but no results so far. Can you request that they update their extension to Firefox 57???
Is Firefox 57 ever going to restore the text formatting toolbar? I need this. I am still back on firefox 56.
I have no news. Please see all of my previous replies.
Firefox 57.0.4 does not restore the text formatting toolbar EXTENSION. What's wrong with you people? Can't you restore this extension? It's back to Firefox 56 for me. I hope you will eventually restore this extension or find a replacement. As I've said before, Firefox 57 is a serious DOWNGRADE over Firefox 56 for me...
Firefox 58 does not restore the text formatting toolbar, so it's back to firefox 56 for me. Is there any help out there for people who blog and want text formatting???? I use text formatting EVERYDAY. Is there no help at Firefox for people like me???

The EDIT add-on doesn't do [[HYPERLINKS|https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18381460/hyperlinks-do-not-work-in-firefox-but-they-work-on-chrome]] which is essential. I don't want to move to Chrome where they do work. For HTML you need to be able to add: .....n. Edit will not do this.
.......n needs to be added to make hyperlinks in HTML.
The EDIT 1.1 by Erosman does not allow me to format text in firefox 58.0.1 at all. When I try to use HTML bold or underline I receive the message "There was an error with the operation." So whatever blog site I try to post a formatted text on, I am unable to do this. So for me the EDIT 1.1 is a complete failure. I am returning to Firefox 56. I truly hope you can find a solution that allows text formatting with future versions of Firefox. HELP!
Edit 1.1 by Erosman doesn't allow me to format ANY text I compose for posting on ANY blog. Can anyone help me with formatting text that I chose to compose for any blog????
