Sounds like you saved a hyperlink to the image, not the actual image itself.

Please turn off the CAPS LOCK. Typing in all caps is considered rude and ALL CAPS makes is harder to read text for those of us who are "of an advanced age" and may have vision problems.

How are you saving the images? For example, you right-click on a picture and choose Save Image As...? Or on Facebook, you use the download option that sometimes appears below a picture?

Could you change a Windows setting so you can see the file extensions? Windows has a habit of hiding them and just showing icons, which can make problems more difficult to diagnose. The following article has the steps:

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-show-file-extensions-in-windows/

Now.... I'm assuming the problem downloads have a .htm or .html extension, or are marked as shortcuts instead of having an extension like .jpg or .png. Is that what you see there?

If you right-click a picture in a web page and use Save Image As, you should get the original image extension (like .jpg). If you do not, it can indicate that the site does not allow that method of downloading and we'll have to suggest an alternative approach.
