Hello!

Recently, Thunderbird began not to start on my system. I'm using latest Xubuntu Linux 14.04.1 (3.13.0-34-generic x86_64). I've tried to install Thunderbird from official Mozilla website (31.0) but it didn't help. I also tried to start Thunderbird in save mode but with no luck either.

My profile directory is located on a local network server and accessible via NFS. I have the NFS share mounted on my machine. The path to profile is specified absolutely in profiles.ini file.

This setup was working fine until recently. I'm not sure what has changed. I also tried to move newly created profile to a network share to test if the problem is with my old account -- still no joy.

How can I debug this situation and find solution to it? Please advise. Thanks!

I've tried to install other versions of Thunderbird in order to test if something has changed in it, rather than in my system.

I've tried these versions:

  • 31.0
  • 32.0b1
  • 30.0b1
  • 24.7.0

Every one of them failed on me with the same symptoms.

After I run "thunderbird" it just hangs in there:

ps aux | grep thun sfomin 4652 0.2 0.3 231852 13992 pts/2 D+ 14:14 0:00 thunderbird sfomin 4653 1.1 0.0 0 0 pts/2 Z+ 14:14 0:00 [thunderbird] <defunct>

Also, I have a following message in the output: (process:4652): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
