how do i copy a tab to a new tab
In IE 9 if you hit Ctrl K you copy the tab you are on to another tab. I cannot find the same feature in FF 4.1. Is there such a feature

I'm not aware of any shortcut like that, but if you click in the URL in the address bar and press Alt+Enter, Firefox will load the page in a new tab. It loads fresh, so if you have been filling out a form or making selections in the current tab, that won't appear in the new tab.
Thanks that is exactly what Ctrl K does in IE. Just what i needed.
You can middle click the Reload button on the right hand side of the location bar to open the current page in a new tab.
I don't get where to click. My location bar only has bookmark star on the right had side.
See "Simplified Reload/Stop Button":
Middle-click Reload to reopen the current page in a new tab at the far right side of the window, as recommended by Cor-el. My Firefox 3.6.22 in Ubuntu Linux supports this move, so it very likely applies to most, if not all, other versions of Firefox.
Rather than scroll up to refer to something and scroll back down and find where you left off reading, just keep your position in the document and open a fresh copy of it in a new tab, and do your reference scrolling there.
The second copy is a fresh copy loaded as new, with no history associated with it.
It would be neat to have the ability to "Reopen This Page in new tab" (or window) on the context menu.
You can also Ctrl drag a tab on the tab bar to open a copy of that tab or press Alt+D and Alt+Enter.
Thanks Cor-el: "press Alt+D and Alt+Enter. "
I tried that and it does indeed open a fresh copy of a page in a new tab, as does the middle-click of the reload button. It works in Windows on the latest Firefox and here on Ubuntu on Firefox 3.6.22.
I just redid a Windows install on a friend's laptop, and she uses Internet Explorer. Well, there is no AdBlock Plus for IE, and I was in for a RUDE awakening to all the advertising tricks out there. As my friend prefers MSIE over Google Chrome, I added Spybot Search & Destroy for some added safety while using that browser.
Well, I came across a download site that was not too clear on where to hit to start the download of this intended program, but there was a banner ad with a very authentic-looking Download button directly adjacent to my desired program's description.
Anyway, I said all of that to say I put Firefox on her computer and I hope she takes to it!
For people new to the game, it WOULD be nice if Firefox had the Alt-D + Alt-Enter tab copy on a MENU somewhere!
Edit: Is there an Add-On out there to put this functionality on the menu?

The default for the location bar is Ctrl+L (File > Open Location) and Alt+D is not listed in the user interface as the alternative.
