I created my Thunderbird account using my ancient Dell laptop. I recently purchased an iMac to replace it. Since purchasing my new computer the Dell has stopped working and on startup is displaying a black screen o death. Ive tried a variety of recommended ways of accessing the bios on startup but can't get it going. As a result I am now trying to access my Thunderbird account from my iMac but the migration process is confusing can you please help?

You'd need the Thunderbird profile folder from the dead Dell laptop, or a backup of it. You can then transfer the profile to your Mac. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Moving-Thunderbird-Data-to-a-New-Computer

You didn't explain what that means.

Note, there is no such thing as a "Thunderbird account". You've set up an account with an email provider, e.g. Gmail or Yahoo. Then you use Thunderbird to access mail for that account on your email provider's server, as well as to send mail via your email provider's server.
