I can not backup bookmarks as JSON file or HTML
Hello and thank you in advance for your time/knowledge and help.
I'm having problems backing up my bookmarks ( in either HTML or JSON extension).
HTML backup file is 80KB, while an October HTML backup is 62 731 KB
JSON file backup- I tried to save as JSOn file but it won't save as a JSON file (No associated format)
And it comes off as 0KB.
What should I do? I tried safe mode and it didn't help.
Thanks again for your time and help. Happy New Year.
Cheers, Kevin

Did you try to open the HTML backup in Firefox (Firefox > New Tab > Open File) to see if they show correctly as HTML files?
Do you really mean that in October you had and HTML backup of 62 MB?
You can check the places.sqlite database file with this extension:
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
Hello Cor-el,
First, thank you very much for your time and help.
A while back I dragged something in the bookmarks Library window. What happened was many of the book marks were duplicated.
So that when I save a book mark, it ends up saving in one of two possible folders. I dont' know which one it will save in.
I cant' remember when this happened I think before Oct 2013
To get back to your questions. yes in October 22, 2013 I saved a HTML backup of my bookmarks. It was 62 731 KB. I opened this file in open office writer, and I get 2671 pages. While when I open todays HTML backup I get 1136 pages.
Sometime between me posting this help message the JSON file has appeared and it is larger than the previous JSON backups. I'm worried to try to restore to this backup, I'm worried if something is wrong with this backup I can not revert back to todays bookmarks.
I'm so confused... "HTML bookmarks backup 2014 Jan 5" I viewed this with open office writer and everything that should be there is there. But when I try to make an HTML backup, its like 8,308 KB.
I dont' know when tonight this happend but both a JSON file and HTML file have shown up that seem to be the right size (The html file has everything).
Again, when I try to make a JSON file I get something close to 0KB.
Thanks again for your help! Happy belated new year.
Cheers, Kevin
