Yesterday I updated to Firefox 10, reset my browser and an error came up from Flagfox. Instead of taking the time to read it through, I uninstalled it and none of my addons were showing up after a restart! I tried to uninstall firefox and put it back on with a new profile but it wouldn't work. I also deleted the extensions.* files in my profile and nothing happened. And when I checked the extensions.log this is the chunk I saw:

"Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFile.directoryEntries]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///modules/XPIProvider.jsm :: recursiveLastModifiedTime :: line 1251" data: no] at resource:///modules/XPIProvider.jsm:1251 2012-02-04 15:49:34 ERROR addons.xpi: Error creating statement getVisibleAddons (SELECT internal_id, id, location, version, type, internalName, updateURL, updateKey, optionsURL, optionsType, aboutURL, iconURL, icon64URL, defaultLocale, visible, active, userDisabled, appDisabled, pendingUninstall, descriptor, installDate, updateDate, applyBackgroundUpdates, bootstrap, skinnable, size, sourceURI, releaseNotesURI, softDisabled, isForeignInstall, hasBinaryComponents, strictCompatibility FROM addon WHERE visible=1) at resource:///modules/XPIProvider.jsm:4546 2012-02-04 15:49:34 ERROR addons.manager: Exception calling provider getAddonsByTypes: [Exception... I actually created a new profile and copied all of my old information over .... afterwards all I had to do was reinstall some of my extensions and it worked. it's probably a better idea to use this as a last resort if deleting the extensions.* files doesn't fix the problem. Be sure to back up your information before messing with your profile!

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

Check and tell if its working.

May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)
