NoScript 2.1.0.3, BetterPrivacy 1.50, and Adblock Plus 1.3.7 not installing
Had FF 3.6.17; loaded FF4.0.1 and my add-ons disappeared. Add-ons were all updated, current versions that should be compatible with FF4:
NoScript 2.1.0.3, BetterPrivacy 1.50, and Adblock Plus 1.3.7.
Javascript enabled. No security software running.
Downloaded each add-on again. Download appeared OK for BetterPrivacy and Adblock Plus, and I was asked for restart. Restarted FF4, but no add-on has installed. Download not completed for NoScript; a pop-up said what was downloaded "was different than expected" (whatever that means). Went directly to NoScript website, downloaded OK. Restarted FF4 as requested, but again add-on was not installed.
Restarted computer. Opened FF4, same result.
Trashed FF4. Downloaded FF4 again. Repeated process as above, same result.
As a test I tried to download a "featured" add-on unrelated to privacy/security. TinyEye installed successfully. This showed me the problem was not settings related.
Downloaded the extension "Add-on Compatibility Reporter 0.8.3" successfully, but this has not aided with add-on installations (tried again).
The "Unable to install themes or extensions" page at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions_-_Firefox did not provide an answer.
The "problematic extensions" page at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions also did not provide an answer.
This feels like it might be a settings issue, but since some will load and others will not (that reportedly are compatible with FF4) then I don't know what the setting might be.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get these loaded successfully?

If these important add-ons cannot be installed I'll return to Firefox 3.6.17. My online security and privacy are more important to me than what someone else describes as an improved browser. For anyone else experiencing similar issues, here is a link to the Firefox 3.6 download page: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
This can be a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.
Cor-el, thanks very much for the detailed solution. I found the folder and deleted the file extensions as instructed, then after restarting FF went ahead and restarted my whole system. Unfortunately though ended up with the same result.
I have deleted FF4 and gone back to FF 3.6.17. Like I said before, my online security and privacy are more important to me than what someone else describes as an improved browser.
