I can use other browsers without images being blocked in yahoo mail but when I try and send an attachment as an image in the body of email instead of showing image it just shows text "inline image".

When I use other browsers and send an attachment as a image in the body of the email it shows the image without any problems.

When I receive an email with scanned images instead of seeing the image it shows text "scanned image".

The problem started in version 88.0 and continues in 88.0.1

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Thank you for your prompt response. When the problem was occurring it was happening on multiple devices. Two different desktops and a laptop. I did try and run one desktop without any extensions and the problem was still there. I also deleted all cookies and cache completely from the same desktop and the problem was still there.

Before I could try anything else the problem went away on all (3) devices. I made no changes to the other two devices and they all are allowing me to send images using Firefox Browser now as well as viewing images on incoming emails. Whatever the problem was it was between Firefox Browser and Yahoo Mail. I am running version 88.0.1 (64 bit) on all (3) devices. Hopefully Firefox and Yahoo Mail will continue to play nicely with each other going forward.
