Why are shortcuts different on Windows and Linux?
On Windows I press Ctrl + J to open the list of downloads. I just installed Ubuntu 16.4 on another machine and Ctrl + J does nothing at all. Why make the controls different on these two different platforms? Who benefits from this? Not me.

On Linux: Downloads is Ctrl + Shift + Y
Ctrl + j and Ctrl + K is for to focus Search bar
The Menu's and keyboard shortcuts with Firefox on Mac OSX is due to Apple HIG and on Linux it is due to Gnome HIG.

Yeah, I know. The shortcuts are different. I think it's a bad user interface.

Actually that is wrong. Each O/S does their own programming and assigns commands chosen for their needs.
