So i dunno where this has come from but can someone tell me why when i type stuff in the address bar i have a bunch of other search options where it says (search for "Text" with) then a bunch of icons to select and how to disable them? I don't believe i had those.

Do you ever use the Search Bar? It has long had one-click buttons to run your query on a different search engine than your default. That has now come to the address bar in Firefox 55. Don't want that row of buttons? You can hide it using a preference change (I have heard this will only be possible for a few versions). Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste URLB and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.oneOffSearches preference to switch the value from true to false

The buttons should be gone if you test in the address bar. Success?
