original question says it all - I have retried to do the import from another browser option thru the history / bookmarks / view all / import from another broswer option and although it does create a new folder in bookmark windown - IE eplorer - stll only about 15 or so actual bookmarks (favorites) show up in that folder as well. I am not rea computer savy and need to know how I can get this done under step by step basis to transfer the remaining one w/o having to do one at a time by opening first in IE and then copy paste into addr. bar to then bookmark with Firefox browser. I read about copying favorites into HTML file first then importing that file but I have no idea how to do that. I'm liking what I 've seen so far with Firefox vs. IE but if I can't get my favorites transfered as a batch deal - I may have to forego switching over

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":
