Why is Firefox saving all files in "firefox document" format?
When I try to download a file by 'save target as' the only option I get is to save the file in Firefox Document format ( url.htm ). Why is that happening?!

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks for answering but that didn't work. In safe mode Firefox does the same. All files I google for are downloaded as url.htm when using "save target as". This is a fresh install of Windows 7. No virus, no spyware. Everything works good, except that problem with Firefox. That feature is working fine in Internet Explorer.
It maybe because the target is not a direct URL. Sometimes the target would be a page on the result site from where it is redirected to the actual file. You can check that if you hover the mouse over a link.
No! This happens with ALL files I try to download! But I've just noticed that this problem only occurs in Google Search! I can't reproduce it in Bing, for example, "save link as" works fine there. This is an issue between Firefox and Google... weird!
The links on the Google results page are modified via onclick if you click them to allow phishing detection, so you need to open such a link and save the pages or links from the tab.
Thank you for all your help, guys. So this is a normal thing? Because I was feeling like I was the only soul in the universe with this problem... And there's more. I've just discovered that I can use "save link as" in Google results when making the search through the tiny search bar integrated in Firefox!
