no sound in firefox 3.6.3 flash video after upgrading to Kubuntu 10.04 and

Installed Kubuntu 10.04. Sound in Amarok plays correctly. Reinstalled firefox and latest adobe adobe flashplugin 10.0.45.2. Sound worked fin in Kubuntu 9.10.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

same problem; even after installing flash 10, that then install firefox plugin too, then sound is ok ... till next reboot where i get back flash 9 plugin under firefox 3.6.3 ....

I did solve the problem . It turned out that the PCM slider in Kmix was all the way down by default after installation. That is a bad default. Also the documentation for Kmix doesn't adequately explain what the PCM control is. In fact I searched the Internet for 15 minutes and I still don't even know what "P" or "C" or "M" stands for.

This cost me a couple of hours and then a very simple solution worked, in kubuntu 10.04:

  1. left-click the speaker icon in the system tray
  2. left-click "Mixer" button
  3. slide "PCM" up

What a brainless default setting! Should really be updated by kubuntu.
