Are Thunderbird updates needed for email settings by Sept 12, 2018?
XFINITY is sending emails to switch from POP to IMAP. I think it only applies to Outlook. Is Thunderbird safe as is?

Thunderbird can be set up to connect to servers using either IMAP or POP (if the server supports both). So you probably should check that your account already is set up in Thunderbird using IMAP.
