How can I set the view of the History bar to always sort websites "by last visit". It always resets whenever I change from "By date" to "By last visited"

Please help. Is there a way to make the history sidebar sort websites "by last visit", by default; instead of sorting websites by "By date".

Whenever I try changing the "view" button of the history sidebar to sort websites "by last visit", it automatically changes back to sorting out "by date" by itself how do i make the settings stay permanently?

Thanks!

Are you talking about when the browser is restarted?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

This choice is saved in xulstore.json.

"chrome://browser/content/history/history-panel.xul":{"viewButton":{"selectedsort":"lastvisited"}}

When this setting is removed from the file then Firefox reverts to the default and that is "By Date".

You can try to rename/remove xulstore.json and if present delete localstore.rdf in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
