Version 38.5.1

When starting Thunderbird I always have to enter my Master-Password. When I click "cancel" 5 times, I have full access to all of my emails in all email-accounts that are saved in Thunderbird. How can I fix that problem and get my emails really safe?

Thanks, Marina

Because the Master Password is there to protect your stored passwords. Until you enter the Master Password, you won't be able to download new messages nor send messages.

There is an assumption in the design of Thunderbird that if you are cautious about access to your personal data, you will have secured your computer using the logins and passwords offered by your OS or hardware.

Did you know that your email messages are stored as plain text, and so anyone with access to your computer could just browse to those files and read or copy them? Locking down your computer is your first priority if you're concerned about security.

You can have TOTAL control of the MASTER PASSWORD with this amazing add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/pl/thunderbird/addon/master-password/

The PASSWORD is asked when TB is started, and the interface is not showed if the password is not entered correctly (TB will shut down).
