What message do you get from Firefox when you try to install it? It's normal to get a little panel asking you to approve the site to install add-ons if it's the first time installing from that site.

I was using the Hola! Unblocker forever for sites like Netflix, MTV, ABC, NBC, Hulu, basically any American network that doesn't stream its content to Canada and it was great. Now suddenly Hola! is gone and everytime I try and install, Firefox won't let me.

It will say 'Hola Unblocker was successfully installed" but when I go to my add-ons page, it says "Hola was not verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution"

That's a new warning in Firefox 40, when the extension isn't "signed" by Mozilla. Firefox 41 & 42 that new feature will be 'beefed up'.

Hi cselby, thank you for the additional information. I notice it isn't disabled. Has the extension stopped working even though it's not disabled?

Having no manual override for that has been very controversial. A lot of us are in the mindset to have a pref in about:config or at least allow us to add a pref to Firefox, if they wouldn't actually provide it - but at least provide the underlying code that would support it.

In the end, at least Mozilla "dropped us a bone" to allow Alpha users (Aurora/DevEdition and Nightly) to switch that feature off. IMO, this "signing" should have been instituted many years ago, as the "code" for signing was put inside Firefox many years ago - like maybe the Firefox 2.0 era? They just never came up with the rest of the "package" to complete it. Hell, Addons.Mozilla.Org didn't even exist then as I recall - and what Mozilla was using until AMO then wasn't even a secure HTTPS setup. "Signing" was put on the "back-burner" for too long "until the entire infrastructure was aflame". And the "bundling" of Firefox with unwanted "extras" somewhat recently was the "accelerant for the current conflagration" that brought about this extreme measure - IMO.

I tried that extension, got the same result. I can see no difference in the browser behavior. Do you actually need to install the hola player for the whole thing to work?

I think the media player add-on is only for streaming torrents.

I don't use Hola, but in their FAQ it says: "Go to the site you want to access, then click the Hola extension icon and choose the flag of the country you want to view the site from." Does that make any sense? If the icon does not appear automatically, can you use Customize to add it to the toolbar or menu -- see Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Got the problem solved, just never installed a missing component, I guess. I went to the main webpage"https://hola.org/" and clicked on the Firefox icon underneath the large, blue icon "Get Hola, It's free!" . It prompted a couple of small downloads, and they installed properly. Just watched a show from Australia, that I couldn't access before.
