How can I delete the AOL toolbar?

Also, I would be happy just to go back to my original firefox, but this was removed from my PC when I downloaded the AOL firefox. Should I download a new firefox and transfer my bookmarks etc. and then delete the AOL firefox?

Thanks for your help!!

Hello FJM8:

YOU ARE THE BEST!!! The 1st solution (see below) was simple and worked like a charm. I was afraid I was in for a battle against you-know-who, that big shot ISP that gave me the add-on (or toolbar). Again, your instructions were simple and worked super fast.

THANKS!!! Phil

How do I fix it if it's an Add-On?

Use the Add-ons Manager to remove the toolbar 1. Click the menu button (top, right corner) and choose Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open. 2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel. 3.Select the toolbar you wish to remove. 4. Click the Remove button. 5. Click Restart now if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

Hello, phil2bfree, and thank you so much for contacting Mozilla Support.

I'm afraid those aren't toolbars as the ones you may find in other explorers such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. Usually, they're treated as add-ons, to make it easier for you to remove them (we know people don't like them). However, you probabbly downloaded Mozilla Firefox® optimized for Aol, which features that toolbar, but if this doesn't fix your problems, please contact us again.

How did I get a Toolbar?

Toolbars from third-party software providers can change your search, New Tab and home page settings or cause other problems with Firefox. These toolbars can get added to Firefox when you visit a website and click on an "Install" link, when you download and run a toolbar installer, or when you install software that includes a Firefox toolbar. Be careful when installing or updating other applications and make sure you deselect any options for toolbars or other bundled software that you don't want.

Also, some software providers offer their own version of Firefox that includes a toolbar and other customizations (for instance, Mozilla Firefox® optimized for Yahoo!) so always make sure you download Firefox from the Firefox download page.

Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

Other solutions

I believe this is your problem: If your current Firefox installation was customized by another software provider, you'll need to uninstall Firefox from your computer and then download Firefox from the Firefox download page and reinstall it.

You may have malicious software installed on your computer. See Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

Alright, now let's talk about the older version of Firefox. Remember that if you want to do this, you must know that that's highly riskly in terms of security and it won't fix most of the problems you may have on a newest version. However, if you still want to downgrade your Firefox, you can go here and see most of the latest versions, even though some of them are highly unsecure or unstable.

The aol toolbar does not appear in extensions or addons or anywhere else giving me control. Somehow I have firefox 33.02 with AOL toolbar aol -2.2. I use Windows 7. This only began in the last week or so. There must be a way to get rid of this. If you find it let me know
