Firefox is constantly hanging/freezing when I open a second tab since the new update.
Firefox keeps hanging/stalling to the point of no usability. "FlashPlayerPlugin_11_7_700_224" and "plugin-container" keep opening multiple times. (I have gotten up to 30 or so of each). I have not had a problem with Firefox for years until yesterday.
Safe mode did not stop it. I tried to update adobe but it gave me a "Host" window that said "Unable to load application configuration".
Also I cannot end the either of the two processes above from the Task Manager. I have to restart.

hello, please try using the offline installer for updating your flash plugin: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe
Disable the Flash Player plugin's protected mode. For the steps, see this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
That should resolve a range of issues that afflict Flash 11.3 and later. However, it might not resolve all of your Flash-related problems, so please report back on how it works and what issues remain.
Thank you for the help! However, I do not think it worked
I made a TXT file named
mms.cfg
and entered
ProtectedMode=0
in it. I put that file here
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
Then I opened Firefox. I opened a yahoo mail account. I t quickly hanged and, in about 60 seconds, i had three each of
FlashPlayerPlugin_11_7_700_224
and
plugin-container (plugin-container.exe *32 to be precise).
Any further help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Kail
I missed the first reply above. My apologies.
That installer for flash player got to 100% and then stalled as well. I could never click the "done" button.
Thanks!
Hi Kail, I think you have 64-bit Windows. Please copy the mms.cfg file to this folder:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
Or if a file already exists there, you could edit in the additional line.

Actually, the adobe fix worked...i think. There was a hidden program alert from my security suite. After I enabled that, I am not getting all the replications of the programs prev mentioned.
THanks all!
