I updated Firefox and Flash earlier this evening. Firefox told me I still needed to update Flash so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. It still gave me a request to update it and a lnk to the same site I had just used to update flash. Please help me understand why this is happening. No solicitations and please do not send me to a malware ridden site.

Hmm, I see that, and as far as I can tell, it's a mistake. The plugin checker wants you to have 21.0.0.226 (see linked screenshot), but that update is, as far as I can tell, only for Mac at this point. For Windows, 21.0.0.213 still is the latest. Hopefully they'll fix it before we get a dozen more questions!

This should be fixed now.

No matter what I do I get the update message by a number of plugins. I update, but the messages continue - known vulnerabilites. Adobe Flash is the worst - I get the warning on every page of Firefox!

This is a known issue with the update checker. If the programs web site says you are up to date, then you are fine. Don’t worry.

Hi QuestionTime, possibly you have multiple versions -- current plus at least one older version.

Type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter to load an internal page listing details about your plugins. If you use Find (Ctrl+f) for npswf -- a unique part of the Flash plugin file name -- you can determine whether Firefox discovered more than one.

This may only be a issue initially with the plugincheck site after a new Flash Player version release. The poster is likely having the classic case of having the current Release and a previous release on system and the previous is being detected and not the current.

If that is the problem;

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version: 23.0.0.162 Flash Player (Linux) Version 11.2.202.635
