CANNOT DELETE MESSAGES FROM ANY FOLDERS
I have a problem. I cannot delete any emails. And it's not the "corrupted Trash folder" problem.
More specifically: When I highlight one or many messages in ANY folder (including the Deleted folder) in ANY of my five email accounts (including both POP3 and IMAP) and I then do any of the following actions:
1. Press the Delete button OR 2. Right-click and select "Delete Selected Messages" OR 3. From the Edit menu, select "Delete Selected Messages".
then NOTHING happens. The messages don't move, there's no warning popup, no beep etc
I can move message manually to the Deleted folder. But then I can't delete them from there. I can delete the whole Deleted folder by deleting the "Trash" and "Trash.msf" files, but that is a drastic and unsatisfactory solution (suggested in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-delete-messages.) Any after doing this, the problem is unchanged.
In Tools menu > Error Console, errors are logged each time I attempt a delete action (any of 1, 2 or 3 above):
ERROR MESSAGE:
Timestamp: 10/04/2016 23:00:30 Error: An error occurred executing the cmd_delete command: TypeError: CBD is undefined Source File: chrome://global/content/globalOverlay.js Line: 99
I have used TB for years with few problems, until now. I use TB on both Windows 10 and Vista (with the same data) and the problem is the same on both. I periodically copy/restore the contents of my profile folder between the PC's as a backup. I think(?) this may have started from around the time I updated to v38.6.0, a month ago. Today I updated from v38.6.0 to v38.7.2 but the problem is still there. Or it may have started after I started copying my entire profile between PC's.
This is an incredibly frustrating problem. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you!

Thi copying worries me. Check the actual files you are copying. If their read only attribute were to be set, then you would not be able to delete from them
Thanks for replying. All I'm doing by copying the files between PC's is following the Mozilla / KB published instructions for moving a profile between computers. The entire contents of the profile folder are copied. So I don't think that would be part of the problem, would it?
The "cannot delete messages" problem is going to drive me away from Thunderbird altogether soon if I can't fix it.
