Everytime I log onto my computer I get an urgent message from FireFox. Details below.
Everyday for 3 days now when I log on my computer I get a message that says: "It is strongly recommended that you apply this update for firefox as soon as possible." It then says "View more information about this update" It will not allow me to view more information(clicking on underlined blue colored line) and I've tried to apply the update and it will not load. The green line just goes back and forth until I finally just shut the loading page down. When I do try to load it by hitting the "Next" button it says connecting to something like trying to connect to upload program now. Now I'm questioning if this is spam or if there is some reason my computer will not load this update. As I said before it does not say what the update is...that makes me a little nervous now that my computer has refused to allow it to update twice. I tried to copy the page to send to you and it will not allow me to copy it.

You're welcome.
If you needed all those steps then you probably have security software that is protecting or locking files, so you may need to keep an eye on that if you experience other problems with updating files or saving personal data.

Do you have a screenshot of the message that you are seeing? If you click the Firefox Button, then the arrow next to Help, then "About Firefox" do you see an "Apply Update" button there?
That could be the update to Firefox 10.0.2; you currently have Firefox 10.0.1.
To update you can click on the Firefox menu: Firefox button (or File button) > Help > About Firefox > Check for Updates. After the update is downloaded, you must restart Firefox for the update to be applied.

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:
- Plug-in check --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in: Installing (or Updating) the Shockwave plugin with Firefox
- Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape: Installing/Updating Adobe Reader in Firefox
- Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash or Flash): Updating Flash in Firefox
- Next Generation Java Plug-in for Mozilla browsers: Installing or Updating Java in Firefox

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
Thanks to all of you who provided answers to help me with my firefox problem. Cor-el's answer provided then entire answer but I had used some information from SafeBrowser before reading Cor-el's answer.
I can't thank you all enough! Laurie
Cor-el, Thank you for your help. Your information was dead on and your directions helped me get through every step. I need lots of help with steps! Your answer is the final answer that I chose although I did use some information from another source before I got your reply. The other source did not give me everything I needed to know and you did.
Thank you again, Laurie
