Why won't my POP3 Server Settings go through successfully?

I'm attempting to set up POP3 with the same settings that have worked in Outlook, but it won't connect. Sending emails works, but "Get Messages" does not.

I verified the port for incoming and outgoing, and used the same ports and settings in other Mail clients such as iOS Mail, Outlook for Windows, and Outlook for Android, but can't get Thunderbird to take them.

Weirdly, sending emails works. but making the inbox Get messages does not.

What exactly are the settings for the account in TB?

incoming POP server: port: Connection security: Authentication method: User Name format: email address or part before @

Other relevant info: 2-factor or 2-step verification on the account? Security/AV mail settings.
