November 2014: FF continually flickers
Several things occurring with the flickering. One is the flickering seems to interfere with my Google account, i.e. mail, calendar, drive, YouTube, etc. What I mean by that is that I can't often amend my calendar or other items. So I am using Chrome browser for all that and it works good. But I like FF better than Chrome or IE on many levels. So today I reset FF using support instructions and it did nothing to fix the situation. I use FF for all other items like research, and transactions because I hear FF is more secure than other browsers. But I fear FF will someday degrade to disallowing me to do that. What else can I do to fix the situation?

So some of the support was helpful - thanks Cor-el and Tyler Downer. I am very grateful for your assistance. Some of the info was beyond my pay grade - lol - and didn't understand. So I should have stated I was a novice. At any rate, someone once told me KISS- "Keep it Simple, Sandee!" So I uninstalled Firefox and then re-installed FF and the issue was resolved.
Also, inserting easy-to-find links to a bona fide Mozilla Firefox download would be helpful. I got tricked by one where they not only installed a bunch of junk (even though I chose custom install they snuck in a few) but they also installed an older version of FF. So I had to go back and uninstall all of that too.
Anyway, hope these discoveries were helpful to support folks as well as novices like myself.

You are using an extremely old graphics driver, which can be causing this issue. Try updating your graphics driver, Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL and then let us know if that helps this situation
Thanks to Tyler Downer - I found this helpful as i should have those updates! however, it is still flickering. So at least we have eliminated one possibility now.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
