Firefox won't show certain icons in Windows 7
I have one XP installation and 2 Windows 7 installations and certain icons just will not show in Firefox. One such site is my library, where an oval icon shows whether the book is an ebook or an audiobook. However, only placeholders show instead of the book or headphone icons. XP shows them just fine, Opera, Chrome, and IE show them with no problem, but Windows 7 just can't seem to figure it out.
I just did a new, clean install of Windows 7 on my desktop computer, and I was expecting all the icons to show. But no, same problem as my laptop. Only Windows 7, only Firefox. What is going on? BTW, if anyone wants to see a screenshot, email me and I'll send you one from Opera (icons showing) and one from Firerox (only placeholders.)

Missing icons can be supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) in case you see little boxes that show the hex code of the characters.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).

That solved it. Unfortunately, it also causes some other problems--it sort of makes all my other font settings useless. At least now I know what to do. Thank you.
You're welcome.
You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.
