Why are the Back and Forward arrows gone?
In Firefox 4 the most irritating change is getting rid of the buttons for Back and Forward. Others have complained, correctly I think, about the Refresh/Reload icon gone, the Stop button gone. But I really MISS the arrows. I also didn't like having text and icons together in the menu bar, but I figured out how to change them.
So... How do I get rid of the words Back and Forward and get the arrow buttons back?

Make sure that the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
- If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
- If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

The Navigation Toolbar and Bookmarks Toolbar are checked and are visible. If you go to View > Toolbars > Customize there are no buttons in the palette for Back, Forward, Stop, Reload. None of the palette buttons are shown in color in the palette. I tried to add the activity indicator, the windmill icon, but it disappears. Also: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_customization appears to be for a pc, not a mac system.
"Back and forward or other toolbar buttons are missing" is a blank dialog box, and "Navigation Toolbar items" is not helpful. Below is the picture of the toolbar palette. Note the lack of arrows < and >, and the lack of color.
If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.
