Yahoo has replaced Google in my search box... I have researched all previous answers both here and in Google, but none of these solutions work as Yahoo keeps switching back!
I have read these sites plus a few others, and nothing works: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/688704?s=yahoo+changed+search+settings&as=s http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/683682?s=yahoo+changed+search+settings&as=s http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/688704?s=Firefox+changed+my+default+search+engine+from+Google+to+Yahoo&as=s http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-10277784-68.html
Any help greatly appreciated!

The search box "remembers" the last search engine used. You should be able to change it (and have the change stick) by using the drop down menu on the left size of the box. If choosing Google actually delivers you to Yahoo, that would be very suspicious. Either the Google search plugin is corrupted, or something is hijacking your search. Are any of the other providers hijacked?
Yes, hijacked! That's exactly what's happening. I've tried everything suggested in the links of my first email, and nothing is sticking.... every time I open a new window, Yahoo keeps hijacking the search engine, no matter which engine I switch to. I have even tried deleting Yahoo from the Search Engines list, and it still keeps coming back.
After MUCH more research, I did find a solution that worked... search all the files in my computer for anything relating to Yahoo and deleting every reference to it, per this link:
I was horrified and disgusted how many Yahoo files were on my NEW computer, some 27 files... parasites!! I not only deleted them, but immediately purged my Recycle Bin. LOL
Delete all yahoo files completely out of your computer and your life will go back to normal.
